This sporty Moselle cycling tour leads you through the most famous winegrowing region in Germany.  Marvel at the Roman city of Trier with the Porta Nigra gate, along with the Moselle towns of Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach and Cochem. Kobelnz with the Deutschen Eck awaits you at the meeting point of the Moselle and Rhine. Don’t miss the chance to taste some Moselle wine at one of the many vineyards. For the Moselle cycling tour you will need a certain level of basic fitness due to the longer daily cycling stages.

Day 1
Treves

Individual Arrival in Treves

Treves is a fascinating town and was once the capital of the Western Roman Empire. You can visit the Porta Nigra, the best preserved Roman city gates north of the Alps, or the basilica, the largest preserved ancient roofed structure. The thermal baths give visitors a good insight into the Roman bathing culture and traffic has been crossing the Roman bridge since 1860. If you have booked a rental bike, it will be waiting for you in your hotel.

Day 2

Treves - Zeltingen, approx. 75 km

Today’s trip leads you along the many meanders of the Upper and Middle Moselle through lots of villages filled with pretty timber-framed houses. Scenically located vineyards are your constant companion along the route. Roman ruins, medieval fortresses and modern wine taverns are all waiting to be discovered.

Day 3
Beilstein

Zeltingen - Treis-Karden, approx. 85 km

Today’s tour leads you through Traben-Trarbach with its many Jugendstil style houses and through the pretty town of Beilstein. Five films have already been filmed here! Cochem is a lively tourist town, which is perfect for taking a break and in Treis-Karden you will already have reached the Lower Moselle.

Day 4
Coblence

Treis-Karden - Koblenz and individual return journey home, approx. 40 km

In brisk ride on well maintained paths you reach Koblenz. Famous is the "Deutsche Eck" (German corner) headland at the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine rivers and you should take the opportunity to visit the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein with its fantastic panoramic views.From 3pm on rental bicycles can be collected and luggage can be handed over.
This is where your Moselle cycling tour comes to an end. You will now return to Trier or return home. We would, however, be more than happy to extend your stay in Koblenz.

    Alternatively you can organise the trip youself by train. There are a number of connections every hour and you will not need to change trains, duration approx. 2 hours, normal price Euro 20 excluding bicycle.
