Ship MS Patria

The MS Patria, a medium-sized river cruise boat, 67 m in length and 7.70 m wide, sails under the Dutch flag and Dutch management. It can carry up to 66 passengers in 33 approx. 9 m² cabins, fitted with shower/WC and ventilation systems. You can enjoy the boat restaurant, saloon and bar as well as a sundeck with places to sit and parking for your bikes. The price of the rear two cabins on the main deck is reduced as it can sometimes be louder here.
The starting point of the journey alternates between Koblenz and Saarbug. You can see which dates are available in the booking form.

Day 1
Koblenz

Individual arrival in Koblenz

This well-known spot where the Moselle joins the Rhine is a relaxed Rhineland town with a cosmopolitan flair. You have to visit the fort at Ehrenbreistein to see the beautiful views over the countryside and the "Deutsche Eck" where the Moselle and Rhine rivers merge. A wander through the historic city centre will take you past all kinds of sights. Embarkment and overnight stay in Koblenz. The starting point of the journey alternates on a weekly basis. If you start in Saarburg, the tour runs in the opposite direction.

Day 2
Treis-Karden

Koblenz - Moselkern - Cochem, approx. 35 km

The boat takes you to Alken and from here you hop on to your bike to start the first cycled section along the banks of the Moselle. A short, but steep detour into a side valley takes you to the famous Eltz castle. The route continues via Treis-Karden and its foundation church, known as Moselle Cathedral, to Cochem where your boat is waiting for you.

Day 3
Beilstein

Cochem - Zell an der Mosel, approx. 35 km

From here, the Moselle meanders its way past the Eifel and Hunsrück mountain ridges. One of the prettiest places along the way is surely Beilstein, where many films have been shot because of its stunning scenery. At your destination, Zell, you will discover not only one of the biggest wine-growing regions, but also a wine-tasting waiting for you.

Day 4
Bernkastel-Kues

Zell an der Mosel - Bernkastel-Kues, approx. 40 km

Today´s route is another relaxing affair: we want you to have time to discover the romantic little town of Traben-Trarbach. Via Kröv, with its well-known wine site, you cycle to Bernkastel-Kues, another pretty place with an elegant medieval market place well worth a visit.

Day 5
Mehring

Bernkastel-Kues - Mehring, approx. 30 km

You pedal on through the valley of the Middle Moselle towards Priesport, also internationally known for its wines. During the morning you have time to visit the largest wine-making cooperative along the Moselle and also visit the oldest wine-growing region in Germany, known as Neumagen-Dhron. Fortified after a tasty lunch, you cycle on to Mehring.

Mehring - Treves, approx. 25 km

Day 7
River Saar

Treves - Saarburg - Saarschleife, approx. 35 km

The Saar joins the Moselle in Konz. This is also where the boat turns and takes you to Saarburg. The town is often called Little Venice; a 20 m high waterfall can be found right in the middle of the town. By bike you continue your journey to Mettlach, where the famous porcelain company, Villeroy & Boch has its headquarters and a works museum informs you all about its history and products. Then just one short section to go until you arrive at the impressive Saar Loop.

Individual departure or extended stay

Your cycle tour along the Moselle and Saar rivers ends after breakfast with your individual return journey back to Koblenz or back home. We are happy to extend your holiday in Saarburg if you like.
